Your application and CV

Careergate is operated by Careergate Ltd (company number 17527848), registered in England and Wales. Registered office: 27 Old Gloucester Street, London WC1N 3AX. Contact info@careergate.co.uk about your information.

We help people find permanent jobs. We never charge candidates. Read this page together with our full privacy notice, which explains our legal bases, providers, international processing, retention criteria, rights and complaints route.

What we use and why

We use your contact details, location, CV, relevant experience, qualifications, availability, salary and role preferences, right-to-work status, application progress and recruitment communications to discuss roles, assess suitability, arrange interviews and support a placement. Relevant feedback may come from an employer or referee. Our main basis is legitimate interests in providing recruitment services and helping employers fill vacancies. Some required records are kept to meet a legal obligation.

If someone refers you, or we find relevant publicly available professional information, we will explain the source when contacting you. You can tell us not to continue contacting you.

Before we send your CV

We will discuss the introduction with you and obtain your permission before sending your CV to a prospective employer. An employer receiving it is responsible for their own use and hiring decisions. Ask us if you want to know who has received your information.

Your details are also handled by providers supporting our business. Website applications go through Google Apps Script into our Google records and business email. Failed submissions are not automatically forwarded to another form provider. Formspree was an earlier backup provider and may still hold older submissions until reviewed under our retention criteria. Squarespace hosts the website. Google reCAPTCHA protects forms after you choose to enable the spam check; email is an alternative. These services can involve processing outside the UK, including the US; see the international processing section.

Keep your CV relevant

Please do not include bank details, National Insurance numbers, passport copies or unnecessary health or criminal-record information. Our general application form asks about right-to-work status; it does not ask you to upload identity documents. If additional checks or adjustment information are needed, we will explain what is required and the relevant protections separately.

Giving us your CV does not sign you up to unrelated marketing. Optional consent, where needed, is requested separately. Our recruitment work is reviewed by people; we do not use solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects to hire or reject you.

Keeping you in control

Please tell us if your circumstances change or you no longer want help finding work. We keep information only while needed under the retention criteria in our full notice. Required agency compliance records may need to remain after an application ends; this does not automatically justify keeping your full CV.

You can ask for access, correction, deletion, restriction or, where applicable, portability, and object to legitimate-interest processing. Email info@careergate.co.uk. We normally respond within one calendar month, subject to the applicable rules and exceptions. You can also complain to the ICO.
